Lawter Replaces IBM and Increases Data Storage Performance 300%

Lawter, a global manufacturer serving the graphic arts, adhesives, specialty coatings, aroma chemicals and synthetic rubber industries, needed to replace aging IBM storage that supported its worldwide SAP applications. Facing requirements for greater scalability, simplified management, elimination of “noisy neighbor” interference, and a move from CapEx to OpEx, Lawter selected Zadara Storage’s Virtual Private Storage Array (VPSA) enterprise storage-as-a-service to address these challenges.

Zadara Storage, with support from Dimension Data, deployed the VPSA as a fully managed, pay-as-you-go solution and delivered isolated, high-performance storage—raising throughput to 30,000 IOPS (up from ~11,000 IOPS), a 300% increase and 50% above Lawter’s 20,000 IOPS target. The implementation eliminated noisy‑neighbor impacts, simplified management, reduced overhead, enabled pure OpEx consumption, and removed the need for a 3–5 year replacement cycle.
