Zabbix watches over Nexon’s infrastructure for optimization

Nexon, a global publisher and operator of roughly 150 online and mobile games, needed a reliable 24/7 infrastructure to ensure uninterrupted play for millions of users. Their legacy monitoring tools could not fully capture OS- and VM-level resource metrics, forced them to run separate systems for physical and virtual platforms, and they faced a looming Windows Server 2003 end-of-life—creating an urgent requirement for scalable, accurate monitoring across more than 1,000 servers.

Nexon deployed the open-source Zabbix platform with support from certified partner Johokobo, completing the migration in just over three months. Zabbix provided an integrated web-based console for physical and virtual resources (across two sites, ~1,000 devices, ~20,000 items and ~10,000 triggers), enabled real-time monitoring and easy customization without restarts, and automated routine tasks. The result was unified VM and host monitoring, lower operational costs through automation, improved capacity insights (including IOPS for better sizing), and a scalable foundation for future middleware and cloud monitoring.
