How MakeMyTrip Monitors Its Large-Scale E-Commerce Website

MakeMyTrip is a large Indian online travel company that operates a complex, hybrid infrastructure spanning datacenters, public and private clouds, bare metal and virtual machines. Their challenge was to monitor this distributed e‑commerce environment across system, network and application layers and get timely alerts and visibility into the health of VMs, datacenters and cloud services.

They implemented Zabbix for alerting alongside a six‑stage, mostly open‑source metrics pipeline built with OpenTSDB, Kafka, Elasticsearch, Grafana and some in‑house tools. This setup centralized monitoring and alerting, giving MakeMyTrip up‑to‑date status across the stack and enabling end‑to‑end visibility of their large‑scale infrastructure.
