Eltele AS, an ISP/ASP based in Alta, Norway serving municipalities and energy companies, needed a more scalable, customizable and highly available monitoring platform. Their legacy, proprietary monitoring tool suffered from poor clustering, database and housekeeping issues, frequent recurring faults and limited ability to offer per‑customer frontends, creating vendor dependence and a single‑person knowledge risk.

Eltele replaced the old system with Zabbix, building custom templates, using discovery to import hosts, and deploying a redundant architecture (OpenAIS protection, master‑master MySQL, proxies) while purchasing professional support and training. The migration eliminated database growth and housekeeping problems, dramatically increased stability, reduced false alarms to a minimum, improved performance and scalability, and raised customer satisfaction to record levels.
