META explores teen online safety with YUX in 4 months

Meta sought to understand the needs of youth and parents regarding online supervision and digital safety in West Africa as part of its Trust, Transparency & Control Labs (TTC Labs) initiative. The challenge was to conduct culturally relevant, localized research in Senegal and Côte d'Ivoire to inform the design of age-appropriate privacy and well-being features across its technologies.

YUX Design implemented a multi-method research solution, conducting in-depth interviews and co-design sessions with teens and guardians. This approach yielded rich, localized insights into user personas, concerns, and needs, which were synthesized into a detailed report with recommendations for Meta. YUX successfully navigated logistical and language barriers to deliver these findings, which directly contributed to Meta's global TTC Labs research initiative.
