Ryerson brings VR to architecture and interior design curriculum in 2 semesters with Yulio Technologies

Ryerson University's Interior Design program, led by Assistant Professor Jonathon Anderson, sought to integrate virtual reality into its curriculum to provide students with a better, more immersive way to understand spatial design. They partnered with vendor Yulio Technologies to utilize the Yulio VR platform, which seamlessly integrated with the 3D modeling tools already in use.

The Yulio platform allowed students to easily convert their 3D models into virtual reality experiences directly from software like Rhino and VRAY. This provided an immediate and profound improvement in spatial awareness, enabling students to refine their designs based on a realistic understanding of scale. The solution was so effective that students began using VR to present their portfolios in job interviews, successfully securing internships and distinguishing themselves from other candidates. Yulio provided a critical tool that is becoming a new normal in architecture and design education.
