A YuJa Case Study
The University of California, Riverside faced an urgent need for a unified video platform when the COVID-19 pandemic forced campus closures and rapid remote instruction. With only about 30 fully online courses before the crisis, UCR had to transition more than 3,000 courses online “essentially overnight.” After a recommendation from UC Santa Cruz, the university selected YuJa’s Video Platform to consolidate disparate tools and provide campus-wide video recording, management, and storage.
YuJa implemented its Video Platform and Proctoring tools—integrated with UCR’s LMS and serving as a storage partner during the Canvas migration—enabling multi-screen recording, transcription/captioning, supplemental content creation, and secure exam proctoring. The solution supported UCR’s community (26,434 students and roughly 3,800 faculty), scaled to accommodate hybrid instruction with 110 upgraded rooms, improved accessibility and equity for remote learners, and allowed the university to maintain continuity and scalability while hosting thousands of courses online.
