A YugabyteDB Case Study
Midoin, the first digital coin that can be mined on any mobile device, was hitting a write‑scalability wall with PostgreSQL on Heroku as its user base and write volume grew. Seeking a PostgreSQL‑compatible, hosted database with high availability, write scalability, minimal operational overhead and Hasura integration, Midoin migrated to YugabyteDB Managed to address those constraints.
YugabyteDB implemented a fully managed 4‑node cluster (4 xlarge cores/node) in a single AWS availability zone, enabling Midoin to scale writes without the previous vertical limits. The YugabyteDB Managed deployment now supports about 8 billion operations per day across a 1 TB dataset with under 20 ms read/write latency, removing scaling barriers and significantly reducing operational burden.
