Video Watchdog, the cult film magazine, needed a way to digitize its publication without losing the look of the print edition, while also managing a large archive, adding rich media, and protecting content with strong DRM. The team also wanted a simple system that could work with limited resources and let them sell content outside the app stores; YUDU provided the digital publishing platform and related subscriber and rights management tools.

YUDU helped Video Watchdog recreate the magazine’s print style with YUDU Publisher, import existing subscribers easily, and set up flexible access for guests, current issues, and paid back issues. YUDU’s DRM and custom payment portal enabled a bespoke monetization model on the magazine’s own website, avoiding Apple and Google revenue share, while bulk upload tools made it easy to add video and podcast content.
