ZorgSaam supports remote, two-factor authentication with the YubiKey

ZorgSaam Zorggroep Zeeuws-Vlaanderen is a large Netherlands-based healthcare provider offering hospital, ambulance, home and elderly care. After moving to Citrix-based desktops and Citrix Netscaler in 2012, the organisation needed a secure way for mobile and remote staff to access medical systems; options like RSA tokens and the UZI-pas proved impractical for large-scale deployment.

ZorgSaam deployed YubiKey (Standard and NEO) with an Intel/McAfee OTP Server to deliver strong, cost-effective two-factor authentication. The YubiKey’s simplicity and ruggedness enabled self-service enrollment, rapid user adoption (staff began wearing keys on badge rings), and stronger overall security, and the organisation is exploring NFC-enabled YubiKey NEO use for physical access so the token could become a single key for multiple systems.
