TriMet is the public transit agency serving much of the Portland, Oregon metro area, operating MAX light rail, buses, WES commuter rail and other services. Faced with rising costs and security concerns from their legacy RSA SecurID tokens, TriMet sought a more secure, user-friendly and cost-effective authentication solution for remote employees.

TriMet deployed YubiKeys with Yubico OTP and remote access integration, and added YubiSupport for priority technical assistance. The programmable YubiKeys delivered stronger security, greater durability and easier use, and reduced overall costs—TriMet noted token replacement costs were lower than what a year of maintenance on the prior solution would have cost.
