Palo Alto Unified School District deploys 3,000 YubiKeys with Yubico to protect student data

The Palo Alto Unified School District (PAUSD) faced a challenge protecting student data after a teacher's compromised credentials led to a breach. To secure access to its online student information system, PAUSD partnered with vendor Yubico to implement the YubiKey hardware security key.

Yubico's solution involved deploying over 3,000 YubiKey 5Ci keys to staff, providing a required additional layer of authentication. The result is that all staff now use YubiKeys daily, which has prevented further account breaches and also allowed parents to adopt them for personal authentication. Yubico provided a cost-effective and trusted security product that was successfully rolled out across the entire district.
