Genetec eliminates passwords With YubiKeys

Genetec, a technology company behind the Security Center platform, wanted to strengthen identity and move to passwordless authentication across its organization. It needed a cost-effective, FIPS-validated, single-vendor alternative to smart cards that could also support document signing, email encryption, and trusted communication with partners, which led Genetec to Yubico and YubiKeys.

Yubico implemented YubiKeys with embedded PIV/smart card capabilities, enabling passwordless login, Microsoft Active Directory authentication, and secure key and certificate storage for signing and encryption use cases. The rollout now covers all 1,200+ Genetec employees, with plans to extend YubiKeys to partners; the result is stronger identity across the company and a scalable path to broader portal and product authentication.
