Datadog leads in authentication best practices, deploys YubiKeys to all employees enterprise-wide

Datadog, a leader in cloud observability and monitoring, faced persistent phishing threats against its Google Workspace single sign-on environment and recognized that SMS and app-based MFA could be phished. Treating every employee as a privileged user, Datadog decided to move to phishing‑resistant hardware authentication to ensure only authorized users could access critical apps and data.

Starting in 2019 Datadog rolled out YubiKeys across the company—prioritizing admins and new hires—and used YubiEnterprise Delivery to programmatically order and ship keys during rapid remote hiring in 2020. The enterprise-wide deployment protected Google accounts and linked services from phishing and account takeover, saved time on global key distribution, and reinforced a company culture of strong, scalable authentication for over 2,000 employees.
