Code Enigma, a Drupal specialist founded in 2010 and ISO 27001:2013 certified, needed to strengthen protection of customer and proprietary data by adding physical two-factor authentication. The company required a solution that would secure Drupal authentication, the client dashboard, and SSH/sudo access on Debian production servers without forcing employees or customers to use personal phones, while remaining affordable and easy to procure and ship.

Code Enigma deployed YubiKey for employees and customers, using Yubico OTP and TOTP across the keys’ two slots (Slot 1 pointed at their Yubico OTP server, Slot 2 for TOTP/Google Apps), and leveraged open-source integrations for a quick rollout. The result was fast, secure, and user-friendly 2FA — users praised the small form factor and one-touch experience, devices were well received when distributed free to customers, and the company plans to extend YubiKey protection to ticketing and code management.
