ARTICLE 19 distributes 1,000+ YubiKeys to secure human rights defenders with Yubico

The customer, ARTICLE 19, is an international human rights organization defending freedom of expression. Their challenge was protecting high-risk activists and their partner network from sophisticated, state-sponsored phishing and man-in-the-middle cyber attacks, which aimed to compromise accounts, expose identities, and discredit human rights defenders. To address this, they partnered with vendor Yubico.

Yubico's solution was to provide phishing-resistant YubiKey hardware security keys through its Secure it Forward program. This allowed ARTICLE 19 to distribute over 1,000 YubiKeys to secure accounts via Google's Advanced Protection Program and their internal Microsoft ecosystem. The results were dramatic, with a complete stop to reports of account takeovers among the protected community, making their accounts effectively bulletproof against targeted attacks.
