Umpqua Bank meets community needs during COVID-19 through employee giving and volunteering

Umpqua Bank, an Oregon-based regional bank, needed to rapidly adapt its community giving and employee engagement when COVID-19 disrupted customers and operations. Using YourCause (Blackbaud’s YourCause solution), the bank sought to expand donation matching, target charities with urgent needs, and provide virtual volunteer options while transitioning teams to remote work.

YourCause enabled Umpqua Bank to spotlight rotating charity partners, increase its company match from 1:1 to 3:1, and launch virtual volunteering—partner organizations posted 25 virtual opportunities in the first two weeks. As a result, employees sewed medical masks, supported data entry, read to children, ran financial education workshops, and helped food access and small-business efforts, allowing Umpqua Bank to quickly meet urgent community needs and sustain employee engagement.
