Contact Energy replaces 30-year-old dam monitoring system in 8 sprints with YouDo

Contact Energy needed to upgrade the 30-year-old legacy system monitoring its Clyde Dam, New Zealand's largest concrete gravity dam. The outdated Landslide Management System was functional but posed a future risk, prompting the search for a modern, sustainable solution. YouDo was engaged to build a bespoke replacement, the Dam Assurance Monitoring System (DAMS), to future-proof this critical safety infrastructure.

YouDo implemented the new DAMS platform using an Agile methodology over eight sprints, which allowed for seamless adaptation to new requirements. The result was a state-of-the-art system delivered exactly on time and budget, featuring enhanced data plotting and an interactive geographic display. The successful deployment gives Contact Energy a robust, secure system that ensures dam safety and captures valuable institutional knowledge.
