Contact Energy, an energy company operating New Zealand's largest concrete gravity dam, faced the challenge of upgrading its 30-year-old legacy landslide monitoring system. The antiquated system was critical for safety but lacked modern capabilities. Vendor YouDo was engaged to build a bespoke replacement platform to future-proof the critical monitoring process and capture the team's institutional knowledge.

YouDo implemented a new Dam Assurance Monitoring System (DAMS) using an Agile methodology over eight sprints. The solution integrated in-house and external systems, providing enhanced data trending, plotting, and a new geographic display for monitoring points. The project was delivered exactly on the quoted time and budget. The result was a state-of-the-art system that provides Contact Energy with greater confidence in dam safety and a robust platform for future innovative projects.
