Unlocking Loyalty with Customer Journey Optimization

StudentUniverse, a specialist travel retailer for students and young adults, set out to unlock loyalty by activating its existing customer and subscriber base rather than relying solely on new acquisition. The team needed to better understand returning-visitor behavior, identify intent during multi-search journeys, and develop a customer-journey optimization strategy that could drive bookings and deliver personalized incentives.

Partnering with Yieldify, StudentUniverse used Customer Journey Analytics (sunburst visualizations), onsite surveys and tailored overlays to segment visitors and present relevant journeys and offers—ranging from prompts to log in for preferential rates to VIP early access to Black Friday deals. The work delivered major wins: a 618% uplift in email conversion for the Black Friday VIP campaign, 103% increase in margin, 23% of Black Friday sales attributable to the campaign, and personalization-driven uplifts of +16.76% on mobile and +4.51% on desktop.
