How HMV delivered key onsite promotions at perfect moments to increase conversions

HMV, a long-established UK specialist retailer of music, film, games and tech that relaunched its online store in 2014 and now leads physical music retail, faces a crowded digital entertainment marketplace where competition, streaming and piracy make acquiring and converting visitors difficult. With differentiated offers like a low free-delivery threshold as a key USP, HMV needed tools to engage hard-won visitors at the right moment to keep them on site and boost purchases.

Working with Yieldify, HMV used personalized, intent-triggered overlays to highlight free delivery on orders over £10 (messaging adjusted by basket value) and to promote its exclusive Steelbook range, fast-tracking interested visitors to product pages. These targeted onsite campaigns lifted conversion rates from abandoning visitors by +9.03% for the free-delivery promotion and +9.73% for the Steelbooks push, increasing conversions and order value.
