The cosmetic company Baymard Institute faced a significant challenge with a lengthy checkout process that resulted in a high rate of cart abandonment, with three-quarters of all online orders being left incomplete. To address this, they partnered with the vendor Yespo to implement a targeted email marketing solution using an abandoned cart trigger series.
Yespo implemented a workflow of automated emails sent to users who abandoned their carts, starting with a reminder just two hours later. They later A/B tested an email featuring a countdown timer to create urgency against a standard discount offer. This strategy, using Yespo's services, successfully increased the click-through rate by 16%, with the timer email performing nearly twice as well and leading to 59 additional purchases from the campaign.
