Ycd Multimedia Helps Commuters Navigate Spain’s Capital Through Digital Signage

Empresa Municipal de Transportes de Madrid (EMT Madrid), the city’s bus operator running 2,100 buses on 217 lines and serving roughly 425 million passengers a year, needed a clear, convenient way to present route and navigational information to diverse riders (including tourists and commuters). After testing options, EMT Madrid partnered with YCD Multimedia to develop an onboard mobile navigational digital signage solution using YCD’s Cnario digital signage software.

YCD Multimedia implemented a centralized/decentralized content management system integrated into buses with GPS-driven, route-based, real-time targeting, bilingual displays and smart scheduling so each vehicle shows both shared and location-specific information. The rollout produced immediate improvements in pilot buses, a significant increase in passenger satisfaction, reduced perceived wait times, much-improved wayfinding, engaging tourist content, and new advertising revenue opportunities for EMT Madrid.
