Preview of the MAHA USA Case Study

MAHA USA improves weld quality and cuts rework time by 5-20 minutes per part with Yaskawa Motoman

MAHA USA, a manufacturer of premium vehicle lifts, faced challenges with an aging robotic welding workcell at their Alabama facility. The system lacked seam tracking, leading to poor weld quality, frequent rework, and excessive scrap. This resulted in high maintenance demands, significant downtime, and a need for extra cleanup labor. To address these issues, MAHA USA partnered with Yaskawa Motoman for a new automation solution.

Yaskawa Motoman implemented a four-station robotic welding system featuring a long-reach MA2010 robot with a seam tracking package and a servo track. The solution eliminated the need for rework, drastically reduced scrap, and optimized overall productivity despite a slight increase in individual cycle time. The workcell operates 20 hours a day with the same three-person crew, who now spend far less time on cleanup and can focus on more valuable tasks. Yaskawa Motoman provided a flexible system that ensured a smooth transition and set the company up for a rapid return on investment.
