Overcoming office capacity challenges in the post-pandemic era

Focus C.I.C is a social enterprise supporting vulnerable people in North East Lincolnshire with an 80‑person team that previously used open seating and a “first come, first served” policy. That arrangement led to overcrowding, people being sent home or working from non‑desks, and, during the COVID‑19 pandemic, an inability to meet new social distancing and occupancy rules. To solve this, Focus C.I.C implemented YAROOMS Workplace, starting with the YAROOMS desk booking module in July 2020.

YAROOMS delivered a desk booking system that gives employees real‑time visibility of availability, autonomy to reserve spaces (including preferences like phone or monitor), and the ability to sit near collaborators, enabling compliance with distancing and capacity limits. The solution improved workplace safety and satisfaction, and Focus C.I.C estimates it saves about $50k per year in employee time. Focus C.I.C also highlighted YAROOMS’ user‑friendly interface, mobile app, branding options, and strong support.
