A Yardview Case Study
Ryder, a 3PL managing transportation and warehousing for a global consumer goods company across plants in Mexico and distribution centers in Texas, California and Ohio, faced fragmented local databases, Excel and whiteboard tracking, and manual fax/phone/email communications. Their goals were to get everyone on a single database, provide network visibility to internal and external customers, enable proactive shipment alerts, eliminate ad‑hoc tracking methods, and reduce data‑entry and associated errors. They turned to Yardview and its YardView® yard management software.
Yardview implemented YardView® to put all users on one database, record every trailer movement for end‑to‑end visibility, and give facility‑specific GUIs with simple drag‑and‑drop handling. Yardview also automated network reporting (214 exports to update online customer tracking and 856 imports for detailed trailer info), eliminated Excel/whiteboard tracking, reduced manual data entry and errors, and accelerated reporting — with the software paying for itself in about a year on average.
