Shell Oil Saves $6.5 Million Using FareIQ and RoomIQ, Expands Use for International Points of Sale

Shell Oil Company was looking for a better way to capture savings on the constantly changing airfare and hotel rates its employees were booking. Corporate Travel Operations Manager Cindy Morse wanted a rate-optimization solution that could identify price drops and respond to employee concerns about lower market prices, and found the right fit in Yapta’s FareIQ and RoomIQ.

Working with Carlson Wagonlit Travel, Shell implemented Yapta’s price monitoring tools and quickly established a global savings program. The results were significant: Shell Oil Company has saved $6.5 million to date, including $3.9 million in airfare savings and $2.6 million in hotel savings, with average savings of $236 per airline rebooking and $133 per hotel rebooking. Yapta’s dashboards also gave Shell clear visibility into performance, and the program expanded to 17 points of sale worldwide.
