A XWiki Case Study
The University of Lorraine, a public sector institution, faced a significant challenge when a major price increase from Atlassian necessitated finding a new Confluence replacement. They required a collaborative knowledge base and intranet solution that could smoothly transfer vast amounts of data and remain accessible to staff, teachers, and students, all while operating under financial constraints. The university selected XWiki for its consulting, development, support, and training services to meet this need.
XWiki implemented its Confluence Migrator tool to successfully transfer over 145,000 pages, 17,000 users, and 315 spaces. Their team also developed two custom extensions to improve navigation and search capabilities. The solution provided the university with greater data control, enhanced flexibility, and full alignment with their academic needs. According to a systems administrator, the management of access rights was notably easier to understand compared to Confluence.
