Truck Driver Power Helps Truckers Plan Routes, Stay Safe Via Hyper-Local Weather Awareness

Truck Driver Power, a mobile app created by JT Peters and Danny Orthwein to support over-the-road truckers, needed to go beyond basic navigation by adding hyper-local weather awareness to keep drivers and freight safe. To address life‑and‑career‑threatening weather risks—hail, ice, and other hazards—the company partnered with Xweather to integrate in‑app weather data and routing so drivers could see conditions along their planned routes.

Xweather delivered radar, forecasts, advanced map overlays and routing via its Weather Mapping Platform (AMP) and Weather API, including a Conditions endpoint for interpolated point data. Integrated into Truck Driver Power’s Navigation Mode, Xweather’s feeds display live warnings and weather along routes, helping drivers reroute around hazardous conditions, protect weather‑sensitive loads, and improve on‑road safety—features that have driven strong driver adoption and employer engagement for Truck Driver Power.
