Alterra Mountain Company Brings Weather To The Slopes With Unique AerisWeather Integration

Alterra Mountain Company, a family of 15 iconic North American mountain destinations and the operator of the Ikon Pass, needed hyper-local mountaintop weather data and supplemental forecast assets (like weather icons) to power resort websites, mobile apps and on-site displays. After deploying professional-grade Campbell Scientific and RainWise stations, Alterra selected Xweather and its PWSweather platform/API to ingest, manage and archive each station’s local data as a one-stop weather solution for every resort.

Xweather integrated Alterra’s stations into PWSweather, transmitting data to the cloud up to every five minutes, applying ongoing quality checks, and exposing current conditions and forecast icons via its API for easy use in the Ikon Pass app and resort digital signage. As a result, 12 of Alterra’s 15 destinations now provide real‑time, hyper‑local conditions that improve trip planning and guest transparency, helping maintain Alterra’s standing as a guest favorite in winter and outdoor recreation.
