A large packaging manufacturer faced a forced platform change when Lawson announced it would no longer support Informix for the Lawson 8.1 release, requiring a migration of their Lawson application database from Informix to DB2® LUW on AIX. The customer turned to XTIVIA and its Virtual-DBA service—leveraging XTIVIA’s Informix DBAs and IBM‑certified DB2 administrators—to plan and execute the migration.

XTIVIA supervised the migration, provided DB2 architecture and configuration recommendations based on IBM best practices, and coordinated with Lawson consultants and the customer’s development team to export/import tables, run Lawson scripts, enable connectivity/security, and automate nightly backups and weekly maintenance. The migration was completed successfully and the customer continues to use XTIVIA’s Virtual-DBA for 24x7 monitoring, proactive optimization and ongoing managed database support.
