CCHIT, the independent nonprofit that certifies electronic health record (EHR) technology, needed a configurable online solution to deliver its EACH™ program for EHR alternative certification and readiness. The organization required multiple branded certification communities with tiered access, self-service organization management to lower operating costs, and integrated training and readiness tools, and selected the Liferay Enterprise Portal as the vendor/product to build the solution.

Xtivia implemented and customized Liferay—delivering custom portlets, web content management, themes and layouts, custom role architecture, and integrations (including PayPal/offline payments)—using an Agile, phased approach. The portal streamlined onboarding (single-step org/user creation), enabled multi-tiered certification workflows and client self-management, and supported multiple branded communities; Xtivia delivered an initial release in under four months and the full multi-certification release three months later, handing the project over ahead of schedule and providing CCHIT with a market-leading, lower-cost portal solution.
