A Xsolla Case Study

Preview of the Epic Games Case Study

Xsolla Pay Station Takes Epic Games’ Fortnite Battle Royale Mobile and Unreal Engine Marketplace Further

Epic Games, the North Carolina–based developer and engine maker behind Unreal Engine and Fortnite, faced limited payment access for unbanked and underserved developers in the Unreal Engine Store and needed a way to enable secure global in‑game purchases. Epic Games partnered with Xsolla, leveraging Xsolla’s smart network of localized alternative payment methods and its Anti‑fraud/Pay Station capabilities to expand payment options and strengthen fraud protection.

Xsolla implemented a region‑by‑region integration of localized alternative payment methods, acted as merchant of record, provided anti‑fraud filtering and 24/7 dispute review, handled chargebacks, VAT and local taxation, and delivered aggregated financial data and support. As a result, Xsolla broadened Epic Games’ global reach—enabling purchases by unbanked developers and players, supporting Epic’s direct distribution of Fortnite (notably the Android launch), and ensuring secure, scalable payments worldwide.
