The Interiors Group NZ needed a faster, fairer and more consistent way to run reference checks across about 150 national hires a year, having previously relied on a single Word template and time-consuming phone follow-ups while adapting recruitment and remote onboarding during COVID-19. To address this they implemented the Xref platform (integrated with JobAdder) to standardise processes, tailor reference questionnaires by role, and gain better oversight and fraud protection.
Xref delivered configurable, role-specific reference templates, real‑time progress updates and multi-touch fraud alerts, plus seamless JobAdder integration so candidate data flows automatically into checks. The result: reference turnaround dropped to an average of 31 hours (24–36 hours routinely), 57% of references completed out of hours, richer responses (average 242 words), improved manager insight and reduced risk — demonstrating clear time savings and higher-quality, more reliable hiring decisions thanks to Xref.
