U.S. Renter of Aerial Lifts Knows Where Every One of Its Nearly 20,000 Pieces of Equipment Is At All Times

NES Rentals, the leading U.S. renter of aerial lifts with nearly 20,000 pieces of equipment across 80 locations in 30 states, needed a cost‑effective way to track mobile assets and improve responsiveness after the recession. A manual system was unworkable at that scale and management wanted a mobile solution that would let branch staff and drivers locate equipment quickly and support better operational planning.

NES deployed Xora’s mobile app with Motorola scan‑equipped devices and barcoded equipment, sending real‑time location and status to a cloud web management app integrated with its back‑office systems. Using about 400 mobile devices and staff to track 20,000 assets, managers can now find equipment and quote delivery times in under a minute, while historical Xora data drives capacity, utilization and inventory control — delivering a flexible, lower‑cost alternative to fitting trackers on every unit.
