How Autodesk Molded Complex Electronic Smart Badges in Just 3 Weeks with Xometry

Autodesk needed a reliable manufacturing partner to help create an intricate electronic smart badge for Autodesk University, where the factory floor experience is designed to teach attendees how modern products are made. The project had a tight deadline of just three weeks and required a product that was both memorable and useful, while showcasing real-world design and manufacturing principles. Autodesk worked with Xometry, using services including injection molding and HP Multi Jet Fusion, to bring the badge concept to life.

Xometry produced the smart badge’s mechanical components and supported Autodesk with design-for-manufacturability feedback, material sampling, and low-volume production. The badge enclosure was made with Xometry’s injection molding service, and the smaller button parts were produced with Xometry’s Multi Jet Fusion 3D printing service. In total, Xometry produced more than 400 badge sets and 2,000 TPU parts, helping Autodesk deliver the final product in weeks rather than months.
