Combating COVID-19 with a Contactless, AI-Based Thermal Imaging Device

X.Labs, a startup R&D firm developing Feevr, a contactless AI-based thermal imaging device to screen for elevated body temperatures during the COVID-19 pandemic, needed durable, sterilizable housings and mounts on an accelerated timeline. They engaged Xometry for rapid manufacturing services, including 3D printing (HP Multi Jet Fusion and Selective Laser Sintering), injection molding and compression-molded rubber, to meet strict materials and sterilization requirements.

Xometry moved from prototyping to production in just one month, delivering prototype and end-use parts (SLS Nylon 12, MJF with TPU 95A, ABS injection-molded parts and compression-molded rubber) with parts in hand within days and the capacity to scale via its network of over 4,000 manufacturing partners. Xometry’s solutions met X.Labs’ bespoke specifications for durability and medical-grade materials, enabling Feevr to be deployed for public health use during a critical phase of the pandemic and establishing an ongoing manufacturing partnership.
