A Xometry Case Study
Melton Machine & Control Company (MMCC) is an industrial automation supplier that builds custom fixtures and machines for automotive and other manufacturers. MMCC faced a fixturing challenge: proximity switch mounts were wearing out in high-heat, spatter-prone welding environments and some customers required unique switch geometries. MMCC turned to Xometry for SLS 3D printing (Nylon 12) to produce a durable, precisely sized switch housing.
Xometry provided instant quoting, engineering consultation, and fast SLS production of the custom housings, enabling MMCC to deploy the parts quickly—often receiving parts within a week. The Xometry solution has held up in service for a year across ten customers in the US and Mexico with no issues, improved durability over the original mounts, and delivered rapid turnaround and scalable production (MMCC says it would order thousands from Xometry if needed).
