Southwestern Furniture - Customer Case Study

Southwestern Furniture, a Phoenix‑based retailer with 17 stores, was managing voice and network services from eight different vendors and needed to centralize voice, WAN and Internet access over a single IP MPLS backbone. After an RFP in 2009, Southwestern Furniture selected XO Communications to provide a converged solution using XO’s IP Flex, IP Flex with VPN and Dedicated Internet Access to replace the multiple vendor relationships and disparate services.

XO Communications deployed a unified VoIP and MPLS network (10 Mbps to the Glendale data center, two 4.5 Mbps circuits for voice/WAN and Internet, and 1.5 Mbps per store), consolidated billing and management, and provided 24x7 support under stringent SLAs. The result was simplified vendor management, higher reliability with fewer outages, consolidated telephony including a 46‑seat call center, remote‑viewable security cameras, new application enablement (e.g., GPS tracking), measurable cost savings and capacity to grow—backed by XO Communications’ 100% DIA availability SLA.
