Fast-growing U.S. Telecommunications Carrier Chooses XO Communications’ Services to Help Build Innovative Nationwide MPLS Network

AireSpring, a U.S. telecommunications carrier that evolved from a switchless reseller into a facilities‑based provider, needed to build a nationwide meshed MPLS network that could integrate circuits from multiple carriers while maintaining consistent QoS and SLAs across diverse geographies. To meet this challenge, AireSpring partnered with XO Communications and tapped XO’s Carrier MPLS IP‑VPN service and Network‑to‑Network Interface (NNI) capabilities.

XO Communications implemented its Carrier MPLS IP‑VPN and NNI solution—using 1 Gbps Ethernet ports, POP‑to‑POP loops and four initial NNI nodes in Los Angeles, New York, Dallas and Chicago—to normalize QoS, prioritize voice/video traffic and connect AireSpring’s multi‑carrier MPLS Mesh. The deployment helped AireSpring double its customer base, expand its on‑net footprint, and launch the fully managed AireSpring MPLS Mesh product supporting prioritized voice, Ethernet over Copper and future video/collaboration services.
