Northwood University, a multi-campus private business school with 4,000 students, needed a better budgeting process as enrollment pressure and financial scrutiny increased. Its Excel-based system was slow, fragile, and hard to manage across 110 budget managers, with no easy way to run what-if scenarios or support reporting and integration needs. XLerant’s BudgetPak was chosen to simplify budgeting without requiring programming or a large ERP investment.

XLerant implemented BudgetPak with minimal IT involvement, and the rollout went smoothly with 110 budget managers, zero complaints, and strong user adoption. The new system enabled what-if analysis, monthly forecasting, salary planning, annotations, and more flexible reporting; Northwood said it cut $200K through salary planning and planned to stop using Datatel for reporting because BudgetPak was easier.
