Fisher College, a nonprofit four-year college in Boston, needed a better way to manage budgeting as it grew from a two-year women’s college to a co-educational institution. Using Excel created flexibility and error issues, and staff struggled with the spreadsheet-based process. XLerant’s BudgetPak was chosen to improve budgeting without disrupting the college’s existing workflow.

XLerant implemented BudgetPak by loading historical data from Fisher’s general ledger and personnel system, then training staff on the new process. The result was a faster, more accurate, and more user-friendly budgeting system that eliminated formula errors, improved monthly reporting, and strengthened communication across the college. Fisher said XLerant helped tie strategic plan initiatives to the budget more efficiently, with implementation completed in just a few months.
