EMCOR Group, a Fortune 500 construction and mechanical services company, struggled with spreadsheet-based budgeting that created duplication, errors, and a slow, manual consolidation process. The company also found its first enterprise planning system too rigid and unstable for the needs of more than 20 corporate budget holders and complex planning across 7,000+ contracts. EMCOR worked with XLerant and its BudgetPak product to find a simpler, more flexible budgeting approach.
XLerant implemented BudgetPak, which EMCOR adopted as its budgeting system after beta testing it and later phasing out Hyperion Planning. The rollout was quick, with user training completed in under an hour, and the results were strong: greater structure, better compensation planning, improved user ownership, and tighter ties between budgeting, HR, and accounting. Most importantly, EMCOR reduced its end-to-end budgeting cycle to just three weeks, while also lowering administration effort and improving overall control.
