StockTwits - Customer Case Study

StockTwits is a social platform founded to give individual traders and investors a real-time way to share charts, ideas and market insight (and pioneered the Cashtag). After gaining traction on Twitter, outages and the limitations of a third-party platform drove StockTwits in 2009 to build its own web and mobile apps. A critical challenge in that build was supplying cost‑effective, reliable real‑time pricing so community conversations would have immediate market context.

StockTwits selected Xignite’s Market Data Cloud and integrated multiple APIs (real‑time, delayed and historical quotes) in about two weeks, benefiting from easy implementation and broad international coverage. The Xignite data helped fuel richer, timely conversations and contributed to rapid growth: today StockTwits serves more than 300,000 registered users, generates roughly 40 million daily message impressions and reaches an audience of about 10 million across the web and social platforms.
