Personal Capital is a next‑generation financial advisor that combines consumer-facing software with fiduciary financial advice to give users a holistic view of their money. The company set out to build a web and mobile dashboard that would link all of a user’s financial accounts and deliver up‑to‑date balances, transactions, holdings and market pricing, but needed affordable, easy‑to‑integrate market data and secure account aggregation without the time, cost and long contracts required by exchanges.

Personal Capital partnered with Yodlee for account aggregation and selected Xignite’s cloud market‑data APIs for pricing and historical data, integrating the services into production within weeks. The combined solution powered the 2011 launch and rapid growth: today more than 1.2 million users track nearly $275 billion in assets, the firm manages over $3 billion AUM across 10,000+ clients, continues strong double‑digit growth, and has added features like a data‑driven Retirement Planner and secured $75M in Series E funding.
