Currency Cloud, a London-based startup founded in 2012, built a transparent, API-driven payment engine to simplify international, multicurrency payments for businesses. While developing the platform they needed reliable historical end-of-day FX rates to generate internal and customer reports and convert amounts to Sterling, so they sought a low-cost, easy-to-integrate historical rates feed.

They selected Xignite’s GlobalCurrencies CloudAPI for real-time and historical FX across 170+ currencies, quickly integrating the API into their Payment Engine. With Xignite data supporting reporting, Currency Cloud expanded its Direct and Connect offerings, processed $7B in payments in 2014 (up from $3.5B in 2013) with plans for $10B in 2015, and now powers 125+ platform customers operating in 212 countries.
