Universal Pictures in Hollywood was struggling with paper-based script and screenplay workflows—submissions, routing, review and storage were handled in hard-to-manage brown accordion folders, and the studio needed a way to watermark printed scripts for security and tracking. To address this, Universal Pictures deployed Xerox DocuShare enterprise content management software.

Xerox DocuShare scanned and filed project documents into electronic folders and added a Microsoft Outlook drag-and-drop feature for emails and attachments, enabling watermarking and desktop access to extensive project files (including up to 20+ script drafts and related research/legal materials). The result was a virtually paper-free Story department: Xerox DocuShare eliminated bulky physical storage, streamlined document handling, improved security, and freed staff time by removing many manual, time-consuming steps.
