Transforming student learning with strategic document outsourcing

Lincoln Public Schools, a district of more than 60 schools and 34,000 students, faced aging printers and copiers and saw an opportunity to overhaul enterprise document and content management without disrupting teaching. Concerned about cost, sustainability and ease-of-use, the district selected Xerox DocuShare to develop a district-wide document strategy, deploying Xerox DocuShare enterprise content management alongside Xerox Office Services, DocuCare and new multifunction devices.

Xerox DocuShare implemented a multi-faceted solution—state-of-the-art multifunctions with advanced scanning/email, centralized print center with remote web submission, Xerox Office Services device management and onsite DocuCare support, plus the DocuShare digital repository. The district cut device count by over 50%, now produces about 70% of documents at the centralized print center with guaranteed overnight turnaround (improving from 1–2 weeks to next-day), reduced vendors from five to one, lowered costs, errors, paper and energy use, and freed teachers to spend more time on instruction.
