The Oklahoma Employment Security Commission (OESC) handled thousands of unemployment insurance documents daily but relied on dispersed paper files, lacked tracking, faced storage shortages and slow response times. To modernize claims handling and enable remote access, OESC turned to Xerox DocuShare, supported by Xerox multifunction printers and ABBYY imaging, to centralize and digitize its records.
Xerox DocuShare was deployed with scanners, imaging middleware, multifunction devices, a StreemFax server and automated workflows tied to OESC’s mainframe; the result was millions of files digitized, complete elimination of paper filing, automated adjudicator notifications, a disaster-recovery configuration, and a measurable 25–35% productivity gain—plus replacing 50 four‑drawer file cabinets with just one and reducing adjudicator file assignment time from eight days to three–four days.
