Innovation Meets Registration Digital tools streamline the student registration process

West Orange Public Schools, a New Jersey district with 11 schools and more than 6,000 students, was struggling with a paper‑heavy, error‑prone student registration process that required duplicate/triplicate carbon‑copy forms and slow hand‑offs between departments for roughly 500 new kindergarten students plus numerous transfers each year. To modernize and reduce frustration, the district implemented Xerox DocuShare together with SRC Solutions, Inc.’s EZ School Registration web‑enabled application.

Using Xerox DocuShare and EZ School Registration, the district digitized supporting documents, eliminated carbon copies, and enabled instant electronic routing (for example, registrars can now push student data to transportation so bus passes are issued immediately rather than the next day). The solution improved data accuracy, strengthened collaboration between central offices and schools, delivered onsite support, and created a more cost‑efficient, secure registration process that lets staff spend time on students instead of paperwork.
